Scott-Accessible-Book-007Each year the Canadian Children’s Book Centre gives every grade one student in Canada a free children’s book. SET-BC is pleased to announce that this year’s award winner Let’s Go! The Story of Getting from There to Here is now available in our Accessible Book collection. Let’s Go takes young readers on an amazing journey across our continent and through time to discover all the methods humans have used to get from one place to another.

This book was written by Lizann Flatt and illustrated by Scot Ritchie, a BC author and illustrator who specializes in children’s literature. Scot has created more than 40 children’s books that have been translated into multiple languages. He visited SET-BC recently to record an accessible version of Follow That Map! A First Book of Mapping Skills, which he wrote and illustrated. With an appealing search-and-find technique, Follow That Map! is an interactive picture book that explains and demonstrates key mapping concepts.

We hope that our students will enjoy hearing this book narrated by the author. Thank you Scot!
