Complex Needs Technology Project

We are very pleased to be supporting a Complex Needs Technology project for a second year in 2016-2017.  The purpose of this project is to assist BC school districts in building their capacity to support students with complex needs by providing complex technologies that district specialists can use with students for trial and assessment purposes.

In November 2016 we will be inviting district specialist teams to apply for complex needs technology bundles that will build their capacity to support students with complex communication, vision, and physical access needs.  Information and application for this project will be available on November 1st in the Current Projects Available for Application area.

SD#8 Kootenay Lake – SOLO Support for Secondary Students

School teams at LV Rogers Secondary in Nelson will be building on successful SOLO implementation at Trafalgar Middle School by moving the use of the reading and writing support software into the secondary setting. Students who have used it successfully at the middle school will have continued access with the installation of a school license at LV Rogers. Secondary teachers will receive in service training on the use of the SOLO suite for students who struggle with reading and writing and the district team will also explore training for existing student users to provide school level support, mentoring and troubleshooting. Students who are already ‘expert’ users may gain volunteer hour credits by teaching and supporting other students in the school.
