About this Resource
These Cognitive Behavioural Strategies created by School District 71 – in Boardmaker and PDF formats – are visual tools designed to help students recognize their feelings or triggers and regulate their reactions. Evidence tells us that mindfulness strategies help us with emotional control and overall well-being.
01. Why Am I Upset and What Will Help Example and Template – This template can be customized based on a student’s triggers and their personal self regulation tools.
02. 8×10 Size of Problem Template – This template helps children understand if a problem is big or little and to better manage their reactions. To teach size of the problem, refer to The Zones of Regulation curriculum, pages 122-126.
03. Break Card Example and Template – These can help students communicate when they need a break. It can also remind them of their self-regulation strategies.
