The Mitten Clicker Sets
About This Resource
This collection of Clicker Sets is related to the book The Mitten by Jan Brett. The Sets were created by Barb Lark as part of a larger group of resources for educators in the Comprehensive Literacy for All Book Collection. This Book Collection includes learning activities for individuals developing early literacy skills, regardless of their age. Activities focus on reading, writing, alphabet knowledge and phonemic awareness to provide meaningful literacy experiences.
The Mitten Retell: This adapted digital book retells Jan Brett’s story The Mitten using simplified text.
Story Sequence Sentences: Students write sentences, in story order, using whole words. Teachers can vary the levels of scaffolding to support student success.
Simple Similes: Students choose from clusters of words or phrases to write similes using color words.
How the Animals Moved: Students choose from clusters of words or phrases to write descriptive sentences about animal movement. The first grid is text only; the second grid includes pictures of the animals.
