Arika Klassen

About Me

I am a UBC-trained Speech-Language Pathologist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a deep passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I work in elementary and secondary school settings, supporting students by embedding AAC into everyday classroom routines, collaborating with school teams, and fostering communities that promote meaningful communication access.

A core part of my work is shifting how AAC is understood—supporting educators and families to see AAC as a tool that enhances language development, learning, and connection. As a proud Métis clinician, I value inclusive, strengths-based approaches that honour each student’s voice, identity, and lived experience.

My Interests

I am committed to the well-being of others, both personally and through my studies. I enjoy being outside and exploring the west coast, connecting with friends and family, and hanging out with my dog, Gregory.
