About this Resource
Elementary and middle school: Response Journal
This template activity is intended for students to use while they read a book. This idea comes from the book, "Reading Power," by Adrienne Gear. The grid is divided into two sections: What Happened and My Thinking. There are 3 variations of this activity intended to support a variety of students. The first choice provides students with click and edit pictures cells for both sections, with access to picture folders, picture pop-ups, the web camera and Clicker Paint (with the addition of record and playback buttons.) The second choice provides students with one picture cell and one text box, along with access to word prediction and pop-up sentence starter banks (with the addition of record and playback buttons.) The third choice provides students with two text boxes, along with access to word prediction and pop-up sentence starter banks (with the addition of record and playback buttons.) This activity supports the BC Minsitry of Education Learning Outcomes for English Language Arts/Purposes/Writing: create a variety of clear, personal writing that express connections to personal experiences, ideas and opinions.
