About this Resource

Grade 3 to 5: This activity combines a talking book about paragraph "sandwiches" and explains the concept of paragraph development, along with a writing component with popup word banks of sentence starters for the students to create their paragraph. This activity supports the BC Ministry of Education Learning Outcomes for Literacy Foundations/Grade3/English Lanuage/ Writing and Representing – write narrative and descriptive paragraphs (eg minimum of 5 sentences) that include: a main idea; a topic sentence; ideas that are developed through the use of supporting details; connected and sequenced details; complete simple and compound sentences; correct spelling and use of grammar.
