A mounting system is an assembly of parts that attach technology to a wheelchair. Mounting optimizes a student’s positioning to the technology, leading to effective equipment use and increased independence. DAESSY is an acronym for Daedalus Support System, created and manufactured by Daedalus Technologies, Inc., a Canadian company founded in Richmond, British Columbia, that works with the SET-BC Loan Bank to provide component-based mounting solutions.
In this video, we provide an assembly overview of the DAESSY Positioner Mount. The components are reviewed, and the mount is assembled, adjusted, and disassembled. This live demonstration was part of a Lunch and Learn series hosted by SET-BC’s Occupational Therapists.
About the Mount
The DAESSY Positioner mount consists of two articulating joints and a height-adjustable collar. These features enable easy height, angle, and location adjustment for an AAC device or laptop. For more information, please visit the DAESSY webpage.
