A Little Rain Can’t Keep Us from Writing!

The Environmental School Project in Maple Ridge is an initiative supported by place-based, imaginative and ecological education. Students and educators teach and learn in their natural environment, rain or shine! With this year’s SET-BC project, the team worked with consultants to successfully integrate iPads, using the Clicker Apps and Explain Everything, into their outdoor classrooms.

Prior to receiving the SET-BC project, the rain made it difficult for students to use reading books and notebooks which limited their opportunities to practise their literacy skills. With the introduction of the iPads and rain-proof cases, the team was able to integrate the technology into their daily activities, giving students the opportunity to practise their reading, writing, and story creation skills regardless of the weather.

This video gives you an insight into this successful project from both the educator and student perspectives.
