Grade 3: In this project, the student can learn about and practise measuring in centimetres and metres. The student is presented with a brief description of when each measure is appropriate. The first practise activity is an errorless sorting task indicating whether centimetres or metres is the measurement used for particular objects. A second practise activity is errorless 4 option multiple choice task in which the student is ask to find the most likely size of the object pictured. This project supports the BC Ministry of Education Prescribed Learning Outcome for Grade 3 Math: Shape & Space- Measurement: C3: demonstrate an understanding of measuring length (cm, m) by – selecting and justifying referents for the units cm and m – modelling and describing the relationship between the units cm and m.
