About Me
I have spent my whole career with the Vancouver School Board, and can claim that I have taught students all the way from Kindergarten to Grade 12. My first 7 years were spent teaching at the elementary level. I then moved to Secondary, specializing in Drama, English and Social Studies. I helped develop a school-based program called “Horizons” for Grade 8 students who were non-designated, but were identified by their elementary teams as “grey area” students who would struggle. That was my first foray into special education, and I’ve been teaching in that area ever since. After 11 years as a School Based Resource Teacher, I moved into the role of Inclusion Consultant with District Learning Services. That role really cemented my passion to work for and with children with complex needs. I am thrilled to join SET-BC and work for and with the people who support these amazing children.
My Interests
I love exploring Vancouver, my hometown, by foot, bike and car. However, when the rain (which I also love) gets too much, I travel to warm destinations where I can continue my explorations. I enjoy golfing, working out and reading, which fit nicely into a beach or desert destination. We recently adopted a rescue dog, so I spend a lot of my free time exploring with him – he keeps me active!
