What a busy start to our school year! SET-BC staff definitely hit the ground running this year – our support staff shipped out many project-, classroom- and student-based technology solutions starting the first week in September and our consultants have juggled final service planning with their initial visits to teams around the province. We have even facilitated a few workshops already!

September started with a three day Provincial Plenary Session during which, on one lovely fall day, our entire staff met at the UBC Botanical Gardens to participate in team building and program orientation. We have a number of new staff who have joined our team this year so they were able to connect with their new colleagues and gain a better understanding of how all SET-BC staff works together to deliver services. It was a wonderful start to the year under our theme “Growing Together as a Program”.

After the first week, we rolled up our sleeves and started contacting teams to complete Collaborative Action Plans (CAPs) to finalize services and service dates. These virtual meetings continued throughout the month and will until October 31st which is the deadline for CAP submission.

Our consultants also started delivering Tier 1, 2, and 3 Professional Learning services this month as well travelling to communities around the province facilitating workshops. Our Tier 1 team hosted and streamed our first provincially coordinated workshop here at the SET-BC Provincial Centre on September 21st – Amy Block facilitated a session entitled “Brain Compatible Learning and Understanding the Multiple Intelligences in Classroom Practices”.

We hope all our district and school teams have had a successful start to the school year – we will see you soon!
