This self-directed course contains a sequential package of presentations, tutorials, demonstrations and activities designed to support those implementing Kurzweil 3000 v.12 (Win) in a school setting. The course is self-guided and self-paced and while each module builds on the previous one, modules can be completed individually as needed.

Module One - Course Description
Module 2 - Introduction
This module provides an overview of Kurzweil 3000 v.12 (Win) describing the types of students that can be supported by the program and introducing features that support three types of classroom tasks – written output, reading comprehension, and test or worksheet completion.
Module 3 - Using the Text Reading Tools
This module focuses on using and adjusting the text reading tools located on the Main and Reading Toolbars. Using the Kurzweil 3000 Taskbar and adjusting the reading options are also discussed.
Module 4 - Using the Writing Tools
This module focuses on using the writing tools on the Writing toolbar, adjusting the auditory feedback options, customizing the spell checking feature, using word prediction, and creating custom vocabulary lists.
Module 5 - Using the Reference Tools
This module focuses on using the Definition or Look Up Word feature as well as the Synonym, Syllable and Spell Selected Word tools in both the main program and the Kurzweil 3000 Taskbar.
Module 6 - Using the Study Skills Tools
This module focuses on using the many different types of study skills tools including the highlighters, sticky notes, footnotes, voice notes, and bubble notes. The ability to extract highlights and notes will also be demonstrated.
Module 7 - Customizing the Reading and Writing Environment
This module focuses on making changes to the toolbars, right mouse button and tool options to ensure the Kurzweil 3000 reading and writing environment meets your students’ needs.
Module 8 - Navigating Documents
This module describes the various navigational tools built into Kurzweil 3000 to help you navigate single and multi-page documents. These tools include zoom in/zoom out, “My Zoom” or custom zoom levels, page thumbnails, document thumbnails and bookmarks.
Module 9 - Scanning Print Materials
This module focuses on preparations for scanning documents in Kurzweil 3000 as well as steps and strategies in scanning single and multi-page documents.
Module 10 - Preparing Documents
This module focuses on the program features used to prepare documents for student use. Features highlighted include zone editing, correcting OCR errors, adding custom instructions, vocabulary support, reading comprehension strategies, and text notes. Locking document features, cleaning up files, saving documents and creating audio files will also be demonstrated.
Module 11 - Managing Kurzweil 3000 Files
This module focuses on saving and opening a variety of file types in Kurzweil 3000. The use of the KESI Virtual Printer to convert files which cannot be opened directly into the program will also be highlighted.
Module 12 - Managing the Kurzweil 3000 Program
This module focuses on the practical matters of managing Kurzweil 3000. Using the onboard Help feature, updating your program to the latest version, using the program with multiple users, and finding support while implementing the program will be featured.
