Working Together Towards Inclusion - Grant
Grant, a White Rock high school student, recently contributed to a special project where SET-BC and PRCVI helped teachers in Thailand to develop a science camp for secondary students who are blind. Grant, his vision teacher, biology teacher and transcriber were interviewed to describe the support services necessary for students who are blind to succeed academically in BC. They articulated the skill set and the considerations necessary for successful inclusion of blind students at the secondary level. These interviews were videotaped and proved to be very useful in addressing key issues for meaningful inclusion in science and mathematics to occur in Thailand.
In his section of the video, Grant offers some inclusion strategies to other students, including comments on the importance of self advocacy. The video, "Working Together for Inclusion - Grant", can be viewed in the Learning Centre under General Topics - Assistive Technology Show & Tell (2006).
