Date I joined SET-BC
September 2, 2013
I started my teaching career in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island. I taught in the old Alberni Secondary High School and then out in Tofino at Wikannish Elementary. I have taught pre-Kindergarten to College level courses in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan always working around Learning Assistance and Special Education. I returned to British Columbia after a 20 year absence and joined SET-BC in 2013. I have supported the East and West Kootenay, enjoying the uniqueness of each district and school, meeting and working with school teams, and the wildlife I come across on each trip. I am always inspired and amazed by what the students create with the technology and what they have taught me about the use and possibilities of technology. The highlights of working for such a unique organization is the engagement and enthusiasm team members have when we work together and find the right equipment and software.
I have a passion for anything that falls under Sensory Processing and Self-Regulation, including technology. With all disabilities there is usually a component of sensory processing where students need support in their environment, transitions, and interactions with peers and school personnel, so having technology that can support these challenging times is essential to have in our tool kits. Addressing Sensory Processing and Self -Regulation supports inclusion.
My personal interests include skiing, gardening, hiking and baking.
