Date I joined SET-BC
September 3, 1991
SET-BC has been an integral part of my life’s journey over the last quarter century.Through these years I have supported school teams and their students in every region of the province and the Canadian arctic. At SET-BC I have served as consultant, mentor, services coordinator and have been invited to share these experiences across North America and Europe . In 1994 our pioneering partnership with IBM in adapted Speech Recognition Technology won national awards from the Conference Board of Canada.
Prior to joining the SET-BC Team, I was the Provincial Consultant for Special Needs Technology for the Manitoba Department of Education (INFOTECH). I have worked as a live in counsellor for adults with developmental disabilities (CAMR). In 1975 I received the Queen’s Commission in the Royal Canadian Navy. I have served as ship’s officer officer, diving officer and Dive Team leader in six of Her Majesty’s establishments and ships (retiring as a Lieutenant Commander). My family have been very supportive of the many overnights, evenings and summer holidays I was away while working for SET-BC.
I have graduated from the University of Manitoba (Psychology) University of North Dakota Speech Pathology and Audiology , Canadian Forces Staff College (Staff officer Training).
