Date I joined SET-BC
October 31, 2016
After completing my Undergraduate degree in Psychology, I decided to pursue a career in education because of my love for learning and working with children. I received my B.Ed. in Elementary Years at UBC. Shortly after I returned to my hometown, Calgary, where I began to work as a classroom teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. Fulfilling the dream of every teacher, I taught in the elementary school I attended as a child. I had come full circle and even worked alongside one of my own teachers. The majority of my teaching career has been focused on working with English language learners and students with special needs in a collaborative team environment. Wanting to expand my teaching experience I joined the Vancouver School Board in September 2016 and shortly after became a part of the SET-BC team.
As an educator my hope is to empower students with tools to become life-long learners. I see technology as a useful and accessible tool in supporting students to develop confidence in their own skills.
I have a big love for food. Whether it’s making it or consuming it, I find food to be something that brings people together. I’m always enthusiastic to try out a new restaurant or a new recipe. I also have a passion for travelling and experiencing other cultures. Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan are some of the places I have explored. I hope to one day visit every continent of the world.
