3. Scripted Routines for Students With Voice-Output Devices: Using Rehearsed Dialogues Based on Intentional Communication Levels

Anne Simonsen, School District #36, Surrey, B.C., is a Special Education Resource Teacher at Simon Cunningham Elementary School. Anne has produced "Scripted Routines for Students with Voice-Output Devices: Using Rehearsed Dialogues". Based on Intentional Communication Levels, Anne's booklet includes information on levels of intentional communication as well as examples of choice-making activities and scripted routines based on activities involving goals from cognitive, perceptual-motor, gross motor or other non-communication areas in IEP.

4. Technology Inclusion Project

This project involves students with multiple handicaps who would benefit from using technology to achieve their educational goals. Upcoming training sessions will focus on the appropriate selection of specific technology bundles and the implementation of these technologies to support the student's educational goals. SET-BC will be travelling to a number of school districts during the next 8 weeks to offer the one day training session to school teams with students involved in the project.

5. Getting Intellikeys to work with the iMac

As new technologies continue to roll out we all face a constant battle to keep on top of it all. On the Macintosh side, we find that the new iMacs no longer have the ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) ports, but have instead, the USB (Universal Serial Bus). However, many of the peripherals such and Intellikeys do not come with a USB port. There is a solution.

6. VisionTech 2000

SET-BC is currently discussing a proposed VisionTech 2000 with the CNIB. In order to provide meaningful technological and recreational opportunities for the participating students and teachers, we want your help in the planning process. A downloadable survey for BC Vision Teachers on VisionTech 2000 is now available.
