1. SET-BC Information Bulletin #2: SET-BC Technology Loans to Schools
BC School districts and Independent Schools request adapted technologies through an application process which includes consultation with SET-BC staff. In the first four months of the 1998/99 school year, SET-BC has provided a variety of long term technology loans to meet the educational needs of students with disabilities. To date 166 students have received loans which include assistive technologies, computers, and voice output communication aids. An additional 62 students received the loan of software and/or hardware accessory items that improve the feature set of their current system. SET-BC's web site provides a variety of resources developed for specific assistive technologies. One such resource is the Apple CD Audio Player for Intellikeys and ClickIt! Created for use on a Macintosh with audio CD's, it can also be modified for other systems. The setups provide students with the ability to use direct selection or scanning.
