Project Outcomes

TAP-FASD is expected to have the following outcomes:

  1. a report which contains data and an analysis of the impact of technology on the students’ written output including:
    • quality of writing content and form as compared to baseline performance
    • use of writing conventions, as measured on Performance Standards
    • quantity of written output as compared to baseline performance
  2. a report which contains data and an analysis of what factors foster successful implementation of technology with this student population.  Some factors which may be important include:
    • low stimulation desktop (e.g. soft background colours)
    • use of an onscreen keyboard as an alternate text entry method to minimize transfer gaze
    • highly structured vs open ended writing tasks
    • use of graphic organizers to support writing process
    • use of specific writing prompts (e.g. who, when, where, what happened, how solved?)
  3. Project documentation and resources which may include any of the following:
      • student videos showing student using technology
      • interviews with team and/or student on use of technology
      • considerations guide outlining strategies for successfully implementing technology with this student population
      • workshop and/or web-based presentation based on project results
