Assistive Technology For Students With Low Vision Screen Magnification with Speech Capabilities |
Screen Magnification with Speech CapabilitiesSpeech capabilities include the ability to echo typing, control caret reading, and launch the document reader. Typing echo speaks characters or words as they are typed. Caret reading (reading text through movement of the cursor / caret) allows the text reading feature to be controlled through cursor moves. Caret reading can speak characters, words, or lines of text, according to caret movement and caret reading settings.
A document reader captures, displays, and reads text from applications using speech output. The document reader tool allows the user to format the text within the document reader. Document readers will begin reading from the cursor, or the portion of highlighted text, not from the beginning of the document.
For comprehensive Screen Reading information, see the screen reading section of the Resource Guide for Visual Impairments.
