Braille or Print?

Braille or Print?

Technologies for students who are visually impaired produce speech, braille and/or magnification. Braille technology is often assumed to be exclusively for students who are blind., magnification or print enhancement for students with low vision, and speech output used for both groups.

In many cases, consideration should be given to teaching both reading and writing in braille and print to student with moderate to severe low vision. Some students should learn braille and print reading at the same time and with equal intensity, while others should learn braille reading so that it may eventually become their primary reading medium.Others may use braille as a supplementary reading tool. A student may require aids and technologies from both the low vision and braille sections of this guide.
