Teen Tech/Rec@VisionTec

Eighteen campers between the ages of 13 and 18 answered the call of instructors Mallory Burton and Dave Rathwell to come to Bowen Island for the Teen Tech/Rec Amazing Race. Campers had the opportunity to compete in the cyberspace "Amazing Race" competition and develop their cyberspace skills using assistive technologies such as JAWS and ZoomText. |

Life skills instruction and recreational events were integrated with the Amazing Race theme. Campers enjoyed fun-filled days, in record temperatures, as they participated in recreational events that included a full day program by BC Blind Sports, as well as talent night, dance lessons, and the grand event - the formal dinner and dance. |

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind - BC/Yukon Division, in partnership with Special Education Technology BC offered the Teen Tech/Rec summer camp for youth and teens with visual impairments. This is the fifth consecutive year these two organizations have teamed up to create an innovative social and learning experience in the perfect setting of Bowen Island Lodge by the Sea.
