SET-BC consultants support BC professional development

Each year, SET-BC consultants take part in the October province-wide professional development day by providing technology training opportunities for BC educators. This year was no exception.

- In the Kootenays, school-based teams from districts 5 and 6 attended a Clicker 4 / 5 workshop.
- Surrey teachers attended a hands-on Clicker 5 workshop.
- SET-BC presented a full-day workshop on Vision Technologies and the Expanded Core Curriculum at the Outlook Okanagan Conference in Kelowna.
- Teams in Parksville attended a Kurzweil essential skills workshop.
- The Computer Using Educators Conference in Coquitlam hosted a SET-BC exhibit on assistive technology services in BC.
- Special education assistants in Coquitlam took part in an introduction to Kurzweil and Boardmaker software.
- In Maple Ridge, teachers learned to use Kurzweil 3000 to create positive student experiences with text-based materials
- Parents who attended the Family Focus Conference in Richmond learned how children with special needs can benefit from the use of assistive technologies.
- Teachers and teaching assistants in Nechako learned to use Intellitalk III, as well as switch access for curriculum materials
- Educators from Campbell River, Comox Valley, Vancouver Island North, and Vancouver Island West learned about Kurzweil 3000 essential skills and free Internet resources for special education.
- Participants at the Learning Assistance Teachers Conference in Vancouver visited SET-BC’s exhibit to learn about program services and projects.
- SET-BC consultants hosted an exhibit on augmentative communication technology and support at the BC Speech Language Pathologists Conference in Victoria.
