On Friday, May 29, six student reporters and their supporters gathered at the Kimberley office to celebrate the end of another successful year in journalism.
Bridges - AT for IT Workshops
Feb 19 & 20, 2009 - Kim Mitchell from Bridges Canada provided an informative and extremely useful overview of Assistive Technology to public and private school Information Technology staff. These IT personnel learned about the technical support issues around installing, upgrading, and supporting assistive technology in the schools.
SET-BC 20th Anniversary
Jan 20, 2009 - This month, SET-BC is celebrating 20 years of creating opportunities for BC students with disabilities. We’ve grown from a small program serving only a few dozen students in our first year, to a province-wide network providing technology, consultation, training, and resources to over 2800 students annually.

ARC-BC Launch for Pilot Districts
The Accessible Resource Centre – British Columbia was launched on September 8th for the eight BC school districts participating in the ARC-BC Pilot Project. During a teleconference and online meeting, Pilot Project team members reviewed the progress that has been made on the collection of alternate format materials and, with great anticipation, got their first look at the actual repository.
The Salmon Project – Developing Curriculum Activities
Salmon is a very important resource to British Columbia, and their study is part of the curriculum for many students in the province. To increase access to this curriculum, Mallory Burton, SET-BC consultant for Prince Rupert, the heart of wild salmon fishing, determined the need for student resources on salmon.

District Partner Conference a Great Success!
SET-BC District Partners and consultants from all over the province met February 18th and 19th in Richmond to collaborate on SET-BC service delivery and attend assistive technology workshops.

On January 16th and 17th, over 100 people from around the province met at Sunny Hill Hospital in Vancouver to participate in two days of inspiring and energetic workshops led by Linda Burkhart.
