Success can’t happen in a vacuum. When it comes to success in the educational environment, it takes a team to help move initiatives from conception, to implementation, to success. Implementation of technology in the classroom is no different, and Isabella MacQuarrie, in SD#27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) knows it takes a great district, school, and classroom team to help teachers find success using technology to support their students.
Isabella’s district team also feels that successful classroom initiatives flow out of effective Professional Development planning and direction. In the case of the SET-BC Tier 2 Classroom Based Solutions in SD#27, the goals set at the classroom level were aligned with the pedagogical goals set by the district, in this case, “Increasing Universal Design for learning theory and practice”. SET-BC consultants facilitated Tier 1 Professional Development activities in UDL, and the district’s Tier 2 Classroom-Based Solutions put it into practice. Isabella worked directly with the classroom teams to augment the ongoing support provided by a SET-BC consultant, and as we see in the iEngaged with UDL and the Presenting Kristian videos, the result of this partnership was “transformational” and “the best that Pro D any teacher can engage in.”
