We are very pleased to announce that applications are now available for our Complex Needs Technology Project. The purpose of the project is to assist BC school districts in building their capacity to support students with complex needs. This project is possible through the support of the BC Ministry of Education and is intended to assist BC school districts in making the transition to SET-BC’s three-tiered model in 2015-2016. With the transition to the three-tiered model, allocations for individual students were reconfigured to support two areas of need – students with very complex needs and classrooms supporting students with a variety of intellectual or learning needs. As a result of this reconfiguration, there was a reduction in the one-to-one support for individual student solutions and an increase in the classroom-based solutions.
To help districts with the transition, we are inviting school district teams to apply for complex need technology bundles to be used by district specialists for assessment purposes and for short term trials with their students. The Complex Needs Technology Project 2015-2016 document provides more information. District teams interested in applying for project support are asked to submit this application form by 4:00 p.m. on January 29, 2016.
